Hospital wards can be noisy places, even at night – and this is affecting patient recovery times.
In the UK, the Silent Hospital Pilot Project – a collaboration between the NHS and DNV Imatis – is trying a different approach. It’s trialling a new system on an antenatal ward that replaces the bells patients ring to attract the attention of nurses or midwives with alerts that are sent directly to staff’s mobile phones. The results so far? Better rested newborns and mothers, faster recovery times, and more efficient patient care.
