Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Nonceba Mhlauli, delivers a keynote address at the 6th Urban Agriculture World Summit 2025 taking place in Zimbali, Ballito, under the theme “Urban Agriculture as a Pathway to Youth Empowerment, Food Security, and Inclusive Growth in South Africa.”
In her remarks, the Deputy Minister highlights urban agriculture as a strategic tool to tackle poverty, unemployment, and inequality, transforming rooftops, backyards, and vacant plots into productive farms that feed families and build sustainable livelihoods.
She emphasizes the pivotal role of youth and women in driving innovation and resilience within the sector, and calls for stronger inter-ministerial collaboration, private sector partnerships, and community participation to scale impact.
