00:12 – Meet the woman making safer batteries:
It was the forgotten idea of a Nobel-winning scientist. Now, Emilie Bodoin is turning it into reality. The Founder and CEO of Pure Lithium has revived the ‘lithium metal battery’ – an alternative to the lithium-ion batteries we know from electric vehicles, and a breakthrough that could make batteries lighter, safer and more efficient – all while reducing dependence on critical mineral supply chains.
04:08 – Why countries are scrambling for copper:
Why did Japan just lend $466 million to Chile’s state copper mining company? The answer lies in the energy transition. Whether it’s solar farms, data centres or electric vehicles, tomorrow’s infrastructure relies on critical minerals. And none is more crucial than copper, which is used almost anywhere electricity is generated, transmitted or used.
06:03 – Turning discarded nets into sportswear:
Fishing nets can take decades to break down – and when they’re lost at sea, they can entangle marine life and damage ocean habitats. Start-up Bureo collects discarded nets from around the world, then recycles them into nylon yarn for waterproof jackets, hats and sportswear.
