BRIEFING TOMORROW
Tomorrow, at 1:30 p.m., there will be a briefing here by Reem Alsalem, who is the UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls, its causes and its consequences. And that will be the inaugural briefing by Special Rapporteurs, and there will be a number of briefings by them next week, some of them in person and some of them virtual.
SECRETARY-GENERAL/PAKISTAN
Our Secretary-General is wrapping up his visit to Pakistan. A short while ago, he concluded a meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s important role as an elected member of the Security Council, including its efforts to advance the peaceful settlement of disputes. He also expressed his gratitude to Pakistan’s support to the UN and its contributions to UN Peacekeeping.
Earlier in the day, the Secretary-General held discussions with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces in Pakistan.
