The EU’s Plan to Fix the Internet

Source: Council of the European Union (video statements)

Did you know that there are EU regulations to preserve online safety and fairness? That may seem like it should be self-evident, but it’s definitely not. To date, Europe is the only region in the world that has regulation in place to make the internet safer, fairer and more transparent for its citizens.

This legislation consists of two acts: the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The DSA focuses on online safety and transparency, while the DMA focuses on big tech to promote fair competition.

These regulations provide protection for digital rights, and any infraction comes with significant financial penalties. The fines can vary from fixed penalties to a percentage of worldwide turnover – all to protect your digital rights.

The European Union: 80 years of building peace

Source: Council of the European Union (video statements)

80 years ago, Europe lay in ruins. Out of the rubble, an idea took hold: a united Europe, a Europe of peace. By uniting their coal and steel production, six countries began turning that dream into reality. Over the years, more countries joined and the cooperation intensified. But that dream cannot be taken for granted. It requires constant work – today more than ever.

Plastic pellets are the second cause of microplastic pollution in seas and oceans!

Source: Council of the European Union (video statements)

And because these small plastic particles look like fish eggs, birds eat them with serious consequences for wildlife as much as for human health.

The EU is setting rules to improve how plastic pellets are handled at all stages of the supply chain.

Goal: reducing unintentional releases of pellets into the environment by up to 74%!
