Protecting Children from Online Harm

Source: European Commission (video statements)

Children aged 9 to 15 are spending more than twice as much time on screens and social media, driven by algorithms designed to capture attention and foster addiction. This increases risks like cyberbullying and harmful content.

Many EU Member States are calling for a digital majority age for social media access. A panel of experts will assess the right steps at the European level, consulting parents, teachers, scientists, and young people themselves to create a safer online environment.

Humane & Firm Solutions for Secure Borders

Source: European Commission (video statements)

The EU’s comprehensive approach to migration is delivering results: illegal border crossings dropped by 38% in 2024. A new Pact on Migration and Asylum will take effect in June 2026, strengthening border controls, improving security checks, speeding up return procedures, and applying fair, transparent rules for applicants. Alongside these reforms, the EU is forging partnerships with countries of origin and transit to tackle root causes, reduce irregular departures, and create safe, legal migration pathways. A humane but firm system shaping a safer, more balanced future.

What are the EU sanctions against Israel?

Source: European Commission (video statements)

Due to the increasingly severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the European Union has submitted a series of sanctions proposals concerning Israel and Hamas to the Council.
Suspension of certain trade-related provisions of the Association Agreement between the EU and Israel.
Targeted sanctions against Hamas, extremist ministers in the Israeli government, and violent settlers.
Bilateral support to Israel is put on hold, except for funding for civil society initiatives and the Holocaust remembrance centre, Yad Vashem.
The horrific events taking place in Gaza daily must stop.

There needs to be an immediate ceasefire, unrestrained access for all humanitarian aid, and the release of all hostages held by Hamas.
