Meet the woman whose battery breakthrough could bring electricity to millions

Source: World Economic Forum (video statements)

It was the forgotten idea of a Nobel-winning scientist. Now, Emilie Bodoin is turning it into reality.

The Founder and CEO of Pure Lithium has revived the ‘lithium metal battery’ – an alternative to the lithium-ion batteries we know from electric vehicles, and a breakthrough that could make batteries lighter, safer and more efficient – all while reducing dependence on critical mineral supply chains.

If successful, the technology could also help more countries manufacture batteries closer to home, strengthening energy security and supporting the transition to cleaner energy.

Pure Lithium is a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer, part of a community of start-ups which are developing cutting-edge technologies with the potential to improve the world.

The World Economic Forum is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation. It provides a global, impartial and not-for-profit platform for meaningful connection between stakeholders to establish trust, and build initiatives for cooperation and progress.

In the heart of Manhattan, the impacts of climate change are becoming increasingly visible.

New York’s Central Park—one of the city’s most iconic landmarks—is facing heavier rainfall, flooding, soil erosion and prolonged heatwaves, putting increasing pressure on its fragile ecosystem.

But nature is fighting back. A composting project in the park is helping enrich the soil, strengthen plants and build resilience to a changing climate.
