Inside the historical buildings of the UniversitĂ degli Studi di Milano, the associate professor in sociology Anne-Marie Jeannet focuses on a project called DESPO. It stands for ‘Deindustrialising Societies and the Political Consequences’, and the project was funded by the ERC Starting Grant (2020-2025). For many years, Anne-Marie has called Europe her home. It has given her the keys to continue her research.

Former gymnast and current USA Gymnastics CEO and president Li Li Leung joined the organization after after a turmoil-ridden period marked by an abuse scandal, bankruptcy and rapid leadership turnover. She talks to Meet The Leader about what she did in her first days to rebuild trust with athletes, coaches and gymnastics communities across the country and build new policies that met their needs. She also shares whatâs needed for psychological safety, mental health resources like therapy dogs that are reducing anxiety for athletes and coaches, and resources to develop coaches to be both mentors and sharpen gymnasts technically. Lastly, as workplaces move away from top-down management structures, she explains what sports can teach leaders about coaching empowered teams who can take feed feedback and drive results that matter.

The European Union and the United States have reached a deal concerning tariffs and trade on 27th July 2025. The agreement concerns the two largest global economies with a market of 800 million people. Now, a single 15% tariff rate for the vast majority of EU exports will bring clarity and certainty to consumers and businesses. The rate covers most sectors, including cars, semiconductors and pharmaceuticals.
