Fishing nets can take decades to break down – and when they’re lost at sea, they can entangle marine life and damage ocean habitats.
Bureo collects discarded nets from around the world, then recycles them into nylon yarn for waterproof jackets, hats and sportswear.
Since 2013, the start-up has collected 7.7 million kilos of fishing nets – helping turn a major ocean problem into a source of new materials.
Bureo is supported by members of the 1000 Ocean Startups Coalition, which is committed to scaling at least 1,000 transformative solutions by 2030. Find out more: https://www.1000oceanstartups.org/about

Prime Minister’s Question Time, also referred to as PMQs, takes place every Wednesday the House of Commons sits. It gives MPs the chance to put questions to the Prime Minister, Andy Burnham MP, or a nominated minister.
In most cases, the session starts with a routine ‘open question’ from an MP about the Prime Minister’s engagements. MPs can then ask supplementary questions on any subject, often one of current political significance.
The Leader of the Opposition, Kemi Badenoch MP, asks six questions and the leader of the second largest opposition party asks two. If another minister takes the place of the Prime Minister, opposition parties will usually nominate a shadow minister to ask the questions.
