“The scale and complexity of today’s challenges demand a stronger partnership,” the UN envoy to the African Union told the Security Council.
Presenting the Secretary-General’s report on the UN-AU partnership today (6 Oct), Special Representative Parfait Onanga-Anyanga called for a partnership “that anticipates crises, addresses the pressures that sustain them and converts shared commitments into prompt, predictable and accountable action.”
He said the report “records important achievements in the AU-UN partnership, while also confronting the more complex and interconnected peace and security landscape.”
The report is Secretary-General António Guterres’ last on the topic before he leaves office at the end of December.
