On 7 October, the Military Schengen 2026 Conference took place in Hamburg, Germany. Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius attended the Conference and delivered a speech on the importance of military mobility.
He highlighted the crucial importance of military mobility across the EU in geopolitically uncertain times, and noted that this involves "how, at what speed and in what quantities we can move military goods across European borders." To facilitate defence readiness, he suggested establishing a Military Mobility Package.
The Military Schengen Conference highlights the role of the civilian industry in military mobility. Drawing on various perspectives, it provides an overview of the current state of military mobility, covering progress, challenges, and future developments.
