On 24 September, 2025 Commission President von der Leyen gave a speech at the Climate Summit, during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
"10 years have passed since we adopted the Paris Agreement. Since then, the world has changed. The clean transition is moving forward."
"The world can count on Europe’s climate leadership. Our Nationally Determined Contribution will range between 66.25% and 72.5%. And we are working full speed on -90% by 2040.
We are on our way to climate neutrality."

On 23 September 2025, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will participate in the "Restoring Childhood and Humanity" conference with the subtitle "Advancing Peace in Ukraine Through the Return of Ukrainian Children". She will also hold a speech during the conference.
The President’s attendance of this conference is part of her visit to New York during the United Nations’ General Assembly.
