UK General David H. Petraeus: The Special Relationship in an Era of Strategic Transformation

General Petraeus gave a Lord Speaker’s Lecture to members of the House of Lords on Tuesday 1 September, entitled The Special Relationship in an Era of Strategic Transformation (And the Urgent Need for Sweeping Military Institutional Change).

General David H. Petraeus is a retired four-star general who served 37 years in the US military, becoming the best-known commander in George W Bush’s “war on terror,” leading coalition forces in Iraq during the “surge” of 2007-8 and in Afghanistan in 2010-11, before going on to serve as Director of the CIA.

The Lord Speaker’s Lecture series invites speakers from inside and outside the House of Lords to address members on a range of topics to support and inform their work..
