3 innovations transforming the fight against wildfires

Last year, wildfires burned a section of the planet the size of the EU. In the northern hemisphere, the fire season will soon be upon us – so how are innovators preparing?

Here, three leaders speak about the next generation in wildfire-fighting – Sean Triplett of Earth Fire Alliance on satellite monitoring, Osmar Bambini of climatetech company Umgrauemeio on #AI detection and Felipe Borelli of RoboticsCats on converting everyday camera systems into souped-up #wildfire detection networks.

This AI-powered satellite constellation could revolutionize Earth observation

@Orbitworks-UAE plans to launch a 10-satellite constellation this year. Rather than capturing images in orbit and transmitting them back to Earth for analysis, the satellites will use #AI to process data in space. By identifying patterns and anomalies in real time, the satellites can enable immediate action.

Ghana just declared its first marine protected area

Almost 200 countries across the world have pledged to protect 30% of their ocean by 2030. But right now, there’s a lot of work to do, with just 10% of the global ocean protected.

#Ghana just took a big step forward with the establishment of the Greater Cape Three Points marine protected area.

The ocean reserve will protect coastal ecosystems rich in biodiversity, and in turn support fish stocks so that communities of fishers can sustain their livelihoods.
